Colour picker is a standalone utility that replicates a colour selection tool found in popular paint programs. It allows the user to store 8 previously used colours which can then be saved into files for use later. The 8 colours last stored in the history area, as well as the current colour, are automatically saved. The 'target' icon in the lower right corner can be dragged to anywhere on the users screen and it will find the colour of the selected pixel allowing you to easily find the colour used, for example, on another web site.
The reason for making it was simple, firstly I tend to stick to simple looking web sites and so don't use the likes of Photoshop to do a full mock-up. This meant I needed to find colours to stick directly into the CSS and loading up something like Photoshop just for the colour selector seemed rather pointless. The second reason is that I use other sites to see what colours go together, and, as they're usually in images I would have to open the image and find the colour myself. This took more time than I wanted it to do, so I added the 'target' feature mentioned above to simplify and speed up the process.
